Count Floyd in Nightlife (aka Vampire Generations)
A new video “Nightlife” by The Wet Secrets examines the generation gap between vampires. It features Cult Classic vampire, Count Floyd, revived by Joe Flaherty from his SCTV days. He is trying to deal with the current times. His mesmerizing doesn’t work, current movies (Tweelight) don’t have that same zing, and his nightclub is too full of non-vamp loving goths and multi-fandom cosplayers.
It’s hard to be a traditional vamp these days!
In advance of The Wet Secrets‘ new album “Free Candy”, this boppy video is filmed in black and white and written/directed by the band’s drummer Trevor Anderson.
Who are The Wet Secrets? They’re a five piece marching band from Edmonton, and many of their photos have them in full uniform (see photo by Fish Griwkowsky‘s). They have been featured on CBC radio, and clearly have a sense of humour. I mean how many other bands willingly pose with llamas? According to their blurb, this album is to have “deceptively sunny songs about death, disappointment, and doin’ it”. This is the band’s third album, and the first in seven years.
While they are new to me, I hope to find more songs that make me grin when their album comes out on February 4th.
