X-Men Days of Future Past Trailer

The Marvel Trailer fairy has dropped by again; this time with the official trailer for X-Men Days of Future Past. With a blend of the actors from First Class and the X-Men franchises, the story gets a little timey whimey.

The trailer starts slow with rising music and longing gazes. The voice of Professor X (Patrick Stewart version) sets the premise and Magneto (Ian McKellen version) adds: “Side by side to end this war, before it ever begins.” They plan to use Wolverine as the vehicle. He is to go back and patiently guide a young Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) to take a different path.

Predictably Logan (Hugh Jackman) is able to add some bitter humour to a serious exchange, with “Patience isn’t my strongest suit.”

This trailer has far fewer explosions than the Captain American: The Winter Soldier trailer, but does juggle a kaleidoscope of X-Men past and present and plays with two time lines, so I’m still counting the days until its May 23 2014 release.

I really dislike the music in this trailer. It brings to mind the funerial tone of Man of Steel, and I don’t want to waste another two hours with another example of that kind of superhero movie.
