Witcher 3’s DLC plans are all that’s right in the world
What’s not to love about CD Projekt Red’s Witcher 3?
By now most gamers have experienced what has already been hailed as the Game of the Year. The continuing tales of Geralt of Rivia’s adventures have taken the gaming world by storm, delivering an unparalleled free roam experience with the kind of rich storytelling and voice acting that rivals many modern Hollywood efforts.
And depending on how much you value your free time, CD Projekt Red’s latest announcement may be great or terrible news: the Polish developer has recently shed some light on their upcoming DLC plans for Witcher 3, announcing that the combined content promises additional 30 hours of game content.
The DLC releases will be split in two, with the first release providing roughly 10 extra hours of gameplay, and the second effort adding another 20.
Combined, the developer said, the experience would be as long as the previous release in the series, 2011’s Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
With this announcement, CD Projekt Red has already sidestepped the usual criticisms that surround every DLC announcement. The content will be brand new, as opposed to being locked on disc, and promises to give a sizeable chunk of new content for your money’s worth. In an industry that has made a habit of making gamers pay through the nose for cosmetic changes or piecing together an incomplete game, there’s no doubt that this is a welcome breath of fresh air to all.
CD Projekt Red has already been winning the hearts of its fans everywhere with its ongoing support for Witcher 3 since it’s release in May of this year – not only having released weekly new content for the game, but also the creation of patches that have both addressed glitches in the game and implemented features suggested by fan communities such as Reddit’s /r/witcher and their own support forums.
The release dates and individual price points for the DLC have yet to be announced, but the season pass for both expansions are currently available for purchase at $24.99 at various retailers.
