What to Watch: Holiday TV Guide


As the holiday season approaches the halls are decked and the weather’s getting weird (where’s the snow!) and my advent calendar is counting down to the Doctor Who Christmas Special! Curl up with your favourite hot beverage and your favourite TV treats. Here’s what’s on TV!!!!

Dec 17th

1600 Penn **Special Preview**  9:30 pm on CityTV
“Putting Out Fires”
Catch a sneak peek of the all-new comedy series following fictional U.S. president Dale Gilchrist (Bill Pullman, Independence Day) and his family. Dale’s son, Skip (Josh Gad, star of Broadway sensation The Book of Mormon), is caught in a public mishap and escorted back to the White House, where he’s kept under close surveillance. Meanwhile, Dale discusses a trade agreement with visiting South American leaders, and step-mom Emily (Jenna Elfman, Dharma and Greg) tries to make peace with Dale’s daughter Becca (Martha MacIsaac, Superbad).

Nothing says the holidays like exposing a big lie. A Charlie Brown Christmas airs  6 pm on YTV followed by It’s Christmas Time Again, Charlie Brown at 6:30.

Doctor Who Christmas Special!!!! airs at 9pm est on SPACE. Start early with a Doctor Who marathon kicking off at 4pm leading up to the new episode featuring Jenna Louise Coleman as Clara, the Doctor’s newest companion.

Christmas Eve 1892 and the falling snow is the stuff of fairy-tales. When the fairy-tale becomes a nightmare and a chilling menace threatens Earth, an unorthodox young governess, Clara, calls on the Doctor for help. But the Doctor is in mourning, reclusive and determined not to engage in the problems of the universe. Bomb Girls Season 2 Premiere on Global 8pm

Bomb Girls season two draws us into 1942, the crux of the war, and all of its vibrancy – with its music, fashion, romance and the thrill of being alive in dangerous times.
