Twice Bitten- Not At All Shy

Space announced that it’s picked up a second, ten episode, season of the original drama “Bitten”. This werewolf series is based upon the novels of Canadian writer Kelly Armstrong. It stars Laura Vandrevoot as the world’s only female werewolf, and a pack of very handsome fellows including Greg Bryk (A History of Violence) as Alpha (pack leader) Jeremy Danvers, Durham County’s Greyston Holt as the smouldring Clayton Danvers ; as well as Steve Lund (Haven) and Michael Xavier who round out the Pack. The first season blended sex and violence with conflicted loyalties and secrets revealed.

At the March ComicCon there was a panel with Bryk, Lund, and Xavier that highlighted how close the cast is – forged by bounds of trust seen not only in the fight scenes between the characters, but the emotional moments they share on screen. Off screen there were antics a plenty. At last week’s SuperFan ComicCon I spoke briefly with Steve Lund and, while he didn’t tip his hand to the renewal, he did talk about a dinner a few weeks ago at Greg Bryk’s house and how great it was to see his cast mates again.

The show became Space’s number one original series with an average weekly audience of 347,000 viewers, reaching almost five million viewers over the 13 episode first season. It also has a huge social media presence, which was clearly seen in the #RenewBitten campaign which had 29,446 Twitter mentions. You can follow the Alpha-like meditation tweets of Greg Bryk (@GregBryk) or Laura Vandervoot’s tweets on her charity work and live in LA (@Vandiekins22).

Production is scheduled to start this summer with Toronto again playing itself, with other locations being shot in Hamilton and Hespeler.

So what does the future hold for our new favourite werewolves? Guess I’ll be tuning into Space next year to find out!
