True Patriot 2 Campaign Launches
On Friday November 1st a number of the creative minds behind the True Patriot graphic novel were at the Comicbook Lounge and Gallery to celebrate the Kickstarter campaign for Volume Two of the Canadian Hero anthology.
And there was a lot to celebrate as they hit over 25% of their goal ($5,100) in the first ten hours of the campaign with 80 plus backers. A group of supporters were with them, looking over the incentive gifts for the various funding levels. Personally, the note book with the new anthology’s cover caught my eye.
One family visited the Lounge for the first time, having purchased the original volume at Word on The Street. The mom and two boys were pleased when several creators in attendance signed their book, including Adam Gorham, Scott Chantler and J. Bone. They also bought a number of comics to take home to tide them over to the anthology’s release next summer.
The goal of this campaign is to create another 104 page colour volume. Some of the heroes from the first volume will return in new adventures, and new heroes will be introduced. If they surpass their original goal of $20,000 there are stretch goals that result in a longer and longer anthology.
I spoke briefly with Jay Torres who is organizing the campaign “We’re off to an amazing start! I’d like to thank our backers.” Having one successful crowdsource campaign under their belt did not detract from both the refreshing of the Kickstarter page or everyone’s happy response as the number of backers grew.
If you missed the launch, there will be a few ‘live’ events during the 30 day campaign. With donation levels ranging from five dollars to one thousand dollars, this is a chance for everyone to support new Canadian heroes and Canadian comic artists.
