Star Wars vs Star Trek – Who’s technology is superior?
The nerd battle that keeps on going, and going and going…. In this latest infographic they’ve pitted the technologies from Star Wars against those in Star Trek. Now, this does seem to be a bit biased on the Star Wars side and as a fan of both and also the resident physicist bot over here, I’d have to lean on the side of Star Trek for this one, simply due to their type of tech.
Sure the guns are bigger in Star Wars but really, the weapons would be inferior to those in Star Trek. Why? This infographic isn’t actually comparing the weapon technology itself – Phasers vs Blasters would be a more accurate comparison or laser weapons vs plasma weapons. Star Wars gets a point for melee weapons for sure with lightsabers, but phasers would outperform blasters guaranteed.
Now, I could be a bit biased seeing how all the tech on Star Trek is usually somewhat based on real physics (they usually had a few physicists on call for references but a lot is twisted for the sake of the show too) and the fact that Star Trek is responsible for many of today’s technologies like cell phones.
Granted, I do love the mythos of Star Wars much better. A jedi would totally pwn a Klingon.
What do you think?

phasers beat lightsabers any day? ROFL… What so the imperial blaster that is the equivalent to the ST phaser, in which a lightsaber wielded by a jedi can deflect and bounce back at the one shooting it and often enough kills the shooter and you think a phaser beats a lightsaber any day??? GTFO
Lightsaber wins any day !
They are two completely different weapon types. Unfortunately Trek doesn’t have anything like a lightsaber so it shouldn’t even be used as a comparison. We all know lightsabers are the coolest f’n thing ever but it’s the comparisons made in this infographic that are inaccurate. Compare a Star Wars blaster with a Star Trek phaser and you’ll see the phaser is far better and actually more viable scientifically. NOTHING compares to a lightsaber – god I want one. ~G33KBOT
sorry for this, but the Slave I doesn’t fly like that: “Slave I sat flat on its bottom surface when idle, although during flight the ship rotated 90 degrees to maneuver vertically”
this is true
