Sex Criminals:Issue One’s Sexy Book Launch

September 25th was the launch day for Image’s Sex Criminals Issue One. To celebrate,The Beguiling hosted a party at a private sex club rented for this evening, Wicked on Queen West.

The comic’s creators Matt Fraction (writer) and Chip Zdarsky (artist) entertained a very hot crowd. Not only were some dressed to the nines while others were modeling the latex fashions of Ego Assassin, but the numbers filled the space and raised the temperature to just shy those in a sauna.

That didn’t make it easy for Chip, who was wearing a Garfield costume. Or help Matt, who had his nipple professionally pierced on the small stage. The two creators read from “un-accepted works” and were interviewed by sex columnist SASHA before starting to sign copies of their comic. They were cheered on by the enthusiastic crowd that filled the club to almost bursting. Seriously, if you weren’t standing by the bar, chances of getting a drink were slim.

Ego Assassin tried to encourage mixing by having each of their models carry one of five parts of a story Chip wrote for the event. I managed to snag parts one, two, four and five. There were some freebies from The Stag Shop and The Beguiling had a selection of the duo’s work, for those who wanted more than the issue provided to all attendees.
