It Really Is All Connected!

When Marvel says it’s all connected, they aren’t kidding. Fans of Agents of SHIELD should also pay attention to the comic book universe since it’s all tied together. This week Marvel gave ComicBook.com  an exclusive look at the variant cover of their new Uncanny Avengers #1. The cover is the first in a series that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Inhumans and features art by Jose Ladronn. Keen eyed observers will notice something conspicuous about the setting. It looks to be the throne room of Attilan, and the floor has some strangely familiar markings. Marvel just keeps getting better and better at unifying their properties, and this cover proves it. Check out the strange chart comprised of circles and lines that should look familiar to anyone who has been paying attention to Agent Coulson’s recent scribbles.

*Spoilers for Agents of SHIELD ahead*

Fans of Marvel’s flagship show will remember that Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) has been exhibiting some strange behavior, namely a compulsion to etch a strange pattern. This season revealed that the pattern was in fact a map leading to an alien city and in this week’s episode titled “…Ye Who Enter Here” the origin of the city and strange text was finally revealed. Raina (Ruth Negga) was a wealth of information for Coulson’s team when she revealed that the alien writing came from a civilization known as the Kree, se calls them “blue angles from heaven” and divulges that they have left their technology on Earth.

Fans of Marvel comics have been desperately and anxiously awaiting this revelation. Everything in the show up until this point has pointed to the presence of the Kree and the Inhumans. What’s really exciting is that Marvel has recently announced that they will be releasing The Inhumans on the big screen in 2018. This means that there will be tons of time to have Inhumans running around the Marvel Cinematic Universe and explore their origins before the royal history that is the central focus of the comics makes their film debut. Keep an eye on Agents of SHIELD for more revelations about the Kree and to find out if any members of Coulson’s team are Inhuman themselves (because Skye almost definitely is) and watch for the first cover that celebrates the Inhumans golden anniversary this January.
