The Pull List: Top 5 Titles of July 29
It’s Wednesday which means that we’ve got a whole new set of titles to watch out for in this week’s Pull List!
SUPERMAN #42 | DC COMICS
Writer: Gene Luen Yang
Illustrator: John Romita Jr., Klaus Janson
Lois Lane has done the unthinkable and revealed Superman’s secret identity to the world in this continuation of the Truth arc. What led Lois to this betrayal against her best friend is still unclear but hopefully we get some answers soon. Ever since the New 52 relaunch, Lois Lane has often been criticised for being very different from the character fans loved and hopefully the end of this arc will offer some kind of redemption for her supporters.
BATGIRL #42 | DC COMICS
Writer: Brendan Fletcher, Cameron Stewart
Illustrator: Babs Tarr with Cameron Stewart for the cover illustration
Batgirl fights the new Batman and just when things couldn’t get any worse, Batgirl comes across the new Livewire, who is looking to spark things up. Batgirl has been really good under Cameron Stewart and Brendan Fletcher and I can’t wait to see what they do with the reimagined Livewire.
SEX CRIMINALS #11 | IMAGE COMICS
Writer: Matt Fraction
Illustrator: Chip Zdarsky
The sexual escapades of Jon and Suzie are finally back as the award winning series returns this week! Fresh off of last issues sexually-charged finale, where we learned that our protagonists are not the only ones with their special gift, comes a new story arc with a good jumping point for readers. If you have not been reading this, than do yourself a favour and pick this up.
DEADPOOL’S SECRET WARS #3 | MARVEL COMICS
Writer: Cullen Bunn
Illustrator: Matteo Lolli with Tony Harris for the cover illustration
I wish this Secret Wars mini-series was longer because I am loving it so far. This book is basically about what would happen if Deadpool was around during the original Secret Wars cracking jokes and interacting with all the heroes from the 1984 mini-series. It has more meta references and fourth wall breaks then you can shake a chimichanga at and I can’t wait for more.
STAR WARS #7 | MARVEL COMICS
Writer: Jason Aaron
Illustrator: Simone Bianchi with John Cassaday for the cover illustration
Ben Kenobi stars in his own one-off story about him basically being a badass on Tatooine. Jason Aaron continues his amazing run on Star Wars with a special guest artist for this issue, Simone Bianchi (Wolverine and Astonishing X-Men).
