The Pull List: The Top 5 Titles of August 12

It’s Wednesday which means that we’ve got a whole new set of titles to watch out for in this week’s Pull List!

BATMAN #43 | DC COMICSBatman43

Writer: Scott Snyder
Illustrator: Greg Capullo

Jim Gordon has taken up the cowl from Bruce Wayne after the events of Endgame and this issue looks to reveal the truth behind why Bruce Wayne quit being Batman. To make things even more interesting, a new villain named Mr. Bloom stalks the streets of Gotham in this must-read issue from the creative team of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo. Snyder and Capullo can do no wrong on their current Batman run so I am really looking forward to the introduction of this creepy new villain.

BATMAN/SUPERMAN #23 | DC COMICS

BatmanSuperman23

Writer: Greg Pak
Illustrator: Ardian Syaf

Superman goes in disguise under the streets of Gotham to investigate in this continuation of the Truth arc. Trust plays a big role as Superman is not sure if he can depend on the new Batman with Bruce gone; and Gordon isn’t sure whether to look at this depowered Superman as a friend or a foe.

THE WALKING DEAD #145 | IMAGE COMICS

TWD145

Writer: Robert Kirkman
Illustrator: Charlie Adlard

The inevitable showdown between Rick’s group and The Whisperers has been building for awhile now and things came to a bit of a head in last month’s shocking reveal. The tension is at its highest between the two groups and I’m really looking forward to the final confrontation which is sure to promise more  explosive action and bloodshed.

SECRET WARS  #5 | MARVEL COMICS

SecretWars5

Writer: Jonathan Hickman
Illustrator: Esad Ribic with Alex Ross for the cover illustration

Marvel’s big summer event continues as Doom looks to strengthen his hold over Battleworld. Doom honours Strange after last issue’s surprising twist; and we should learn more about what happened to Molecule Man PLUS more Reed Richards vs Doom! This has been my favourite big Marvel event to come out over the past few years so I can’t wait to read more!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #20.1 | MARVEL COMICS

AmazingSpiderMan20.1

Writer: Christos N. Gage
Illustrator: Humberto Ramos

Spiral comes to an end in this issue as Spidey has to face off against Wraith. This book promises to rock Spider-Man’s world as New York City crime is changed forever.
