The Pull List: New Releases and Top 5 for July 30
Two of my favourite titles are returning from hiatus for this week’s Pull List, plus the Guardians of the Galaxy are going to get the Marvel 100th Anniversary treatment. It’s a good week for comics. Here are my top five:
Bodies #1
This new miniseries will focus on four detectives, in four different time periods all looking to solve separate murders all set in London that are somehow tied together. The series will be written by Si Spencer and illustrated by four artists, each working on a six-page chapter in each issue.
Black Science #7
The last issue released in April and ended with a shocking twist. Now, three long months later, Black Science is back and the second arc begins with the team continuing to travel and unravel the mysteries of the onion and the Eververse. In their efforts to get back home, they will undoubtedly continue to cross paths with all sorts of strange creatures, and occurrences.
Justice League #32
Lex Luthor is still working on the whole hero angle while tension continues to mount between Batman and the Justice League. But even more intriguing, is the fact that this issue will see Luthor challenged by someone who believes himself superior. The Chief and the Doom Patrol will debut in the New 52.
100th Anniversary Special Guardians of the Galaxy
This is the last issue in Marvel’s 100th Anniversary series and with the Guardians of the Galaxy getting so much attention in the anticipation of their film debut, and with Andy Lanning at the helm, it’s sure to be good. If that isn’t enough of a pitch, Lanning is showing off his sense of humor by setting this hypothetical 100th anniversary issue on the eve of the Guardian’s seventh movie premier!
Sandman: Overture #3
Fans waited 20 years to learn how Morpheus was captured before the original Sandman series. Now we are finally getting answers. Unfortunately, the publication schedule is irregular and issue 2 was released in March, but that only builds my anticipation. This issue marks the story’s half way point and will see Morpheus make a move with no other company but himself.
