The Pull List: New Comic Releases and Top 5 Picks for November 19th
This week is all about jumping on board an existing title. Both Marvel and DC are kicking off number ones that fall in the middle of events or other titles. It can be so intimidating to jump into an ongoing series so a number one that spins off is a great way to get into that title or you can wait for a new story arc to start. Four of this week’s top five are good jumping on points.
Intersect #1
Intersect is a new ongoing horror by Ray Fawkes. Image is promising that it will be dark and teases surreal water-colour images in their previews. It looks like the world of Intersect is a terrifying place where nothing is as it seems. A place where reality is always in flux and readers can expect all manner of horrors.
Batman 66 the Lost Episode #1
Good news for fans of the campy old Adam West show, or anyone who can’t get enough nostalgia; DC is bringing a long lost script by Harlan Ellison to life via comic. Ellison is a legendary science fiction author with titles like Star Trek to his credit. His script would have introduced the infamous Two-Face to the 60’s TV series, and now fans can finally see the story realized thanks to Len Wein and José Luis Garcia-Lopez’s adaptation.
Guardians of the Galaxy #21
Ever since Carol Danvers and Flash Thompson joined the Guardians, I have been wondering when the Venom symbiote would pose a problem. Venom on Earth is a hero, but take the symbiote back into space and it turns out the Skrulls come after you. The great thing about this issue is it’s a fresh jumping on point. If you’ve been meaning to jump on board the current Guardians run, this is a great place to do it and see how their new teammate runs amok.
The Multiversity Pax Americana #1
Hey DC fans, what if I told you that The Question, Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Nightshade and Peacemaker were going to be all together in the same book? Now what if I told you that book is part of Grant Morrison’s Multiversity? In case you aren’t sold yet, the story takes place on Earth-4 where Pax Americana investigates the conspiracy behind the assassination of the U.S. president.
Spider-Woman #1
Spider-verse is the gift that keeps on giving, and this week it’s giving True Believers the gift of a new Spider-Woman ongoing series. Better yet, Jessica Drew won’t have her back story retold; rather her new book will throw her into the fray. She’ll have the new Spider-character Silk by her side and she’ll have to work hard to keep Cindy Moon safe from the Inheritors. You know the series is going to be good if it kicks off with a Spider-Woman and Silk team-up!
