Peter Capaldi’s Doctor Who Outfit Revealed. Predictably, The Internet Loves It
We won’t be getting new Doctor Who episodes until the fall, but the BBC has released this official image of the outfit Peter Capaldi will be wearing as the 12th Doctor.
The outfit is basic but classy. Functional but with a dramatic touch of red.
Capaldi’s already commented on the costume as well, saying: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
The look has gotten positive reviews from most of the internet, but some people have pointed out that it looks a little familiar.
It’s easy to see the similarity in the new look and the one worn by the 3rd Doctor, Jon Pertwee. There’s a good chance this was done on purpose as Pertwee was known as the James Bond Doctor who used Venusian aikido to physically defend himself and Moffat has already described Capaldi as a “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”
Internet fans have noticed similarities between the 12th Doctor and a few other iconic characters though, including Tuxedo Mask:
And Marvel Comics’ own in-house physician, Dr. Strange..
And of course, this being the internet, some people have just been foolish about the whole thing.
