New “Games Seriously” Podcast takes games…well…seriously

If you’re like me, you love video games about as much as you love your family/romantic partner/cat/pie. And much like me, you probably enjoy analyzing those games every chance you can get to the point that the family/romantic partner/cat/pie you love so much will run screaming in terror once you get to hour 3 of your in depth look at Mass Effect.

And answer questions like: why is Ashley so useless?

Luckily, for those of you who need more video game talk in your life there’s Games Seriously, a gaming podcast which takes a close look at the games we love and how they and the industry are evolving.

The podcast stars games researcher Chris Yap (whom I interviewed a few months back about his kickstarter), web/indie game developer Rachel Bazelais, games researcher Thomas May III and fiction writer Jon Padua. They’re all experts in their fields and clearly enjoy deconstructing the world of games.

They waste no time either. Just ten minutes into their first and so far only episode, they decide to tackle possibly one of the biggest questions facing the industry right now: Why are games important? In a medium that is going through some major evolutions, there is no easy answer. But the four give insightful and intelligent opinions that, while they may not provide all the answers, certainly gives some new perspectives on this ever changing industry.

As I said, so far it’s only one episode, but I’m already looking forward to upcoming ones. If you haven’t already, give them a listen, and follow their facebook page where they ask for audience input on some of their topics!
