New Doctor Who Minisode: Vastra Investigates (…and a mini-rant on too many teasers)

It’s been a sort of but not too recent trend for there to be an overabundance of information released prior to the main event. I’m talking about sometimes multiple teasers before even a trailer is released, so many on set and episode pictures released on facebook, twitter, tumblr, that you can attempt to piece together the episode or movie before you’ve even seen the official trailer. There are minisodes and web series that fill in the gaps between episodes or movie releases with teasers, trailers and promo pics or their own.

As much as I love Doctor Who, and was super excited for The Hobbit film basically forever, this saturation quickly reaches a point of over-saturation and a point of diminishing returns where I am no longer teased, tantalized and excited for the upcoming thing but I’m sick of it.

The point of this digression? Aside from the fact that this really does bother me, is that I am THRILLED that the latest piece of Doctor Who teasery takes a step away from the central characters and focuses on one of my favourite duos, Madame Vastra and her lover/assistant Jenny. A pair certainly deserving of a minisode, then perhaps web series, then mini-series?

Madame Vastra’s straightforward wit absolutely slays me and screams SPIN-OFF!It’s a touch of the Sherlock-Who crossover we’ve been hoping for with a unique spin even tossing us a bone with the “Elementary” bit of dialogue.
