Munsters’ Reboot ‘Mockingbird Lane’ Halloween Special. [Trailer]

Remember when we wrote about the super awesome upcoming Musters’ reboot coming to TV? News has been getting around that it will only be a one-time thing.  Bryan Fuller’s pilot has sadly (or not sadly, depending on who you ask) not been picked up by NBC for a series…but in a rare move, it is being aired on October 26th (on NBC) as a one-off special. Fuller, who created “Pushing Daises”, wrote the script and “X-Men” filmmaker Bryan Singer directed the pilot.

Based on this trailer alone, I don’t think this could come even close to the original Munsters. It doesn’t have the same look or feel I think many of us were hoping for, and the general feedback doesn’t seem to be very positive. However, I think it’s a cute throwback for the original fans, as well as an easy introduction for a new generation.

Overall, I didn’t find the trailer as a whole very enticing. I will say, though, that the Mac start-up noise got a real-life LOL.

I don’t think this would have survived as a series, even for a season. However, as a one-time special, it could work. I’m going to be watching this, because, who knows, it might be funny!
