Members of Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC are starring in a zombie movie. For real.

Yes, this is real life. Cult film behemoths The Asylum, who are behind a little movie you may have heard of called Sharknado, are putting together a horror film starring members of the two most iconic 90s boy bands, Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC.

I know. I know.

Nick Carter, AJ McLean, and Howie Dorough, of BSB, and Joey Fatone of *NSYNC, are set to star in Dead 7, which is, according to Carter, “a zombie Western futuristic horror movie”.

Yeah, I’m confused too, but I’m totally in.

Carter is co-writing the film, and having worked with Stan Lee on a BSB comic book back in 2000, is eager to bring his ideas to the big screen. His hopes are to add more musically based (as in 90s boy band) members to the cast, hinting to Rolling Stone that New Kids On The Block member Jordan Knight is in the running. No word yet on Justin Timberlake, but we can only hope.

The Asylum co-founder David Rimawi has nothing but faith in the project, backing up Carter’s cred as a huge geek and horror fan. Carter’s wife also let slip that they sometimes LARP in LA. Yes, Nick Carter LARPs. Be still my teenage heart.

Whether you admit or not, this is a long awaited crossover for anyone who grew up in the 90s. Shh – it’s okay. I know your secrets.

Joey Fatone does, too.

“We’ve never done anything together collectively. People always think [we’re] some sort of rivals. But it’s so funny, there’s never been animosity or anything like that. Now we’re setting the record straight by doing a film together.”
