Marvel announces Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy
It’s not a secret that I am devastated by the upcoming Death of Wolverine story arc. This September, Wolverine’s journey will end in a four issue mini-series that will doubtlessly reduce me to a complete basket case, but now Marvel has announced the next step. Starting in October, Death of Wolverine: The Logan Legacy will examine the void that Logan’s death will leave in the Marvel U.
The series will run for seven issues and culminate in December, with issues one and seven both being written by Charles Soule who is also penning the main event. Issue one will deal with the overall fallout across the Marvel Universe and address the void left in Logan’s wake. After that, each issue will be produced by a different creative team and will examine Wolverine’s death from the perspective of the psyche of one of Wolverine’s allies or enemies. X-23, Sabertooth, Mystique, Lady Deathstrike and the recently returned from the dead Daken will all feature in their own issues and readers will get to address the loss of one of Marvel’s most popular characters from each of their perspectives.
For fans who said Wolverine won’t be gone for long, it looks like we won’t see him again before 2015 and judging by Marvel’s previous track record with offing key characters, it may be longer. In the meantime, the X-Men, Avengers, and various other members of the Marvel pantheon will have to figure out a way to go on without him. Unfortunately, so will us fans.
No one stays dead in the Marvel universe 😛
Jean Grey is not impressed.
