MANOS: The Hands of Fate comes to iOS devices July 26th.

I come bearing wonderful news on a Monday! Huzzah!

If you’re like me, and love Mystery Science Theater 3000, this is like Christmas. The majestic crapfest that is MANOS: The Hands of Fate has been developed into an NES-inspired game for iOS devices, thanks to Freakzone Games.

No idea what the hell I’m talking about? Keep reading.

MANOS: THoF is widely regarded as one of the worst movies. Ever. It was brought into popularity via MST3K, and hit cult status shortly after. YouTube has both versions (the original and riffed versions), and I highly recommend it. I do not, however, suggest watching the movie without the MST3K riffing. I couldn’t sit through it. That’s saying a lot. It’s horrid and confusing and ugh. Just no.

The Riff, however, has me in tears no matter how many times I see it. So watch it. It’s wonderful.

If you’re already acquainted with the film, read on! Quoted from Freakzone:

The story: Lost on their vacation, Mike and his family have wandered the desert trying to find a place to stay, only to wind up in a strange haunted hotel. Maintained by Torgo, an unusual man/satyr who “takes care of the place while The Master is away”, the hotel is swimming with paranormal activity which Mike has to brave through to find his now missing family. Who is The Master, and what does he want with Mike’s family? Mike, armed with his trusty revolver, will have to wander the haunted halls, venture out into the desert, uncover a dark temple and battle MANOS, the great god of hands, to find out!

MANOS takes influence from, and pays homage to, video games and pop culture including: CastleVaniaZelda IIFriday the 13thA Nightmare on Elm Street,Angry Video Game NerdMystery Science Theater 3000 and many more!

Freakzone Games has tons of screencaps and info on their Tumblr. While the game hits iOS on July 26th, it will be released on Android devices and Kindle Fire in the near future.

ps: Manos.
