First Teaser Trailer for Maleficent!
Ever since Disney revealed Angelina Jolie as Sleeping Beauty‘s horrifying villainess, I have been incredibly eager to learn more about the film. After leaving us without much news for a few months, Disney recently released Maleficent’s first official movie poster.
Just a few days later, we now have a nearly minute-and-a-half trailer to follow suit.
Being a huge Disney nut myself, I am always skeptical when I hear that a classic film is to be made into a major motion picture. However, the news of Angelina was easily taken. I have believed her to be a wonderful fit for this role from the beginning. Now I am certain that nobody else could come close to the perfection that she will portray. From the details in her costume to her menacing cackle, Angelina is indeed Maleficent.
The last bit of dialogue in the trailer gave me chills.
“I am not afraid.”
“Then come out.”
“Then you’ll be afraid.”
The film is to be told from the perspective of the Maleficent and looks at the events that hardened her heart and drove her to curse young Princess Aurora. Maleficent is set to hit theaters May 30, 2014.

For me, Maleficent is the most mysterious and the most terrifying Disney villain of all time. There is something very archetypal about her and I look forward to seeing where this goes. It reminds me of what was done with Wicked and I just hope it will not end up becoming another Oz The Great and Powerful. I just hope …
