KILLJOYS to Debut in June on SPACE Channel
Anyone catch the sneak preview of the KILLJOYS in Toronto at Comic-con a few months back? Well, if not, then don’t worry, because SPACE just announced the release date of this exciting new bad-ass sci-fi series!
A new generation of bounty hunters are moving into this intergalactic neck of the woods as Space premieres the new original Canadian action adventure series KILLJOYS on Friday, June 19 at 9 p.m. ET.
The show, created by Michelle Lovretta (LOST GIRL) and produced by Temple Street Productions, chronicles the adventures of a trio of reclamation agents – or “Killjoys” – as they track down fleeing warrants throughout the Quad, a distant but socially unstable planetary system on the brink of internal class war. The 10-episode, one-hour series will also air simultaneously in the U.S., on Syfy.
The KILLJOYS are comprised of three variably talented and deadly characters. Led by the lovely Dutch, a deadly assassin with a mysterious and compelling past; her two partners are technology expert, John and his brother D’avin, an elite soldier with extensive weapon expertise. Their starship, Lucy, not only houses them and provides them with a base of operation as they track their quarries through the diverse and rich network of stars known as the Quad, but also is possessed of a distinct personality that clearly has a special fondness for John.
Canadian Sci-Fi actress, Amanda Tapping, makes frequent guest appearances as a charismatic and charming scientist who periodically lends her experience and knowledge to the Killjoys. However, her charming personality masks an agenda of her own that lends an element of intrigue to the show.
In the series premiere of KILLJOYS, “Bangarang” (Friday, June 19 at 9 p.m. ET) Dutch and John are desperate for a break and seek the comfort of some R&R after capturing a dangerous smuggler in the badlands of Westerley. When a death warrant is posted for D’avin, John decides to take the job to save his estranged brother. With other Killjoys on the hunt, both Dutch and John are in a race against time to clear D’avin’s name … and their own. For a sneak peek at the premiere of KILLJOYS, click here.
