What Iron Man Character Makes an Appearance on Agent Carter?

As far as the MCU goes, it’s all connected, and Marvel’s new show Agent Carter is no exception. You may remember Agent Peggy Carter as Steve Roger’s love interest in Captain America: The First Avenger, well in January she is getting her own show and fans (yours truly included) could not be more excited. Of course in the spirit of building a huge and unified universe, Agent Carter will undoubtedly link back to the rest of the Marvel U at every opportunity and Marvel has already teased the origin of a major character. It turns out that Jarvis is more than just Tony Stark’s AI; reminiscent of the comics, it looks as though Jarvis will be inspired by Howard Stark’s butler. As you can see, Jarvis will be played by James D’Arcy (you might recognize him from Cloud Atlas) and unlike the comic version where he works in Avengers Tower, he will work for Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper). The clip shows Jarvis to be everything comic fans would expect; his propriety is only matched by a little bit of sass. His appearance in Agent Carter adds a fun new dimension to the MCU. In the Iron Man franchise and The Avengers, the AI JARVIS is played by Paul Bettany, who we know will also be playing the android Avenger Vision in Age of Ultron. Because Bettany plays both roles, and because we know that Tony will be responsible for the creation of Ultron in the Avengers sequel, we can assume that Vision evolves from JARVIS who is inspired by Howard Stark’s butler Jarvis. By keeping it all connected, Marvel is weaving an intricate web. There is no doubt that Agent Carter will introduce the origins of many other aspects of the Marvel U including the rounding of SHIELD.
