Inspector Spacetime is a real thing!
Community fans, you know what I’m talking about. Yes it’s true, Inspector Spacetime is a real show, well a web series. How did we miss this?!
In case you’re new to Community, Inspector Spacetime is Troy & Abed’s favorite show that you often hear them referencing. I won’t go into the full history of how they became fans here, but as you can guess, it’s an homage to our own beloved Doctor Who.
The show follows the Inspector and his partner traveling in a red telephone box known as the X7 Dimensionizer (aka the T.A.R.D.I.S.) and using his Quantum Spanner (sonic screwdriver) to save the Earth and fight off his greatest enemies (the Daleks).
Fans immediately loved ate this up and many fan sites have sprung spitting out made-up histories, actors, Christmas specials, companions and more. Check out the main fan site here. If you’re on Tumblr check out Inspector Spacetime Confessions.
With the success of the show, actor Travis Richie, who plays the Inspector in Community, decided to create his own Inspector Spacetime web series called “Untitled Web Series About A Space Traveler Who Can Also Travel Through Time”. Since Sony refused to back his project, Travis started his own Kickstarter account and changed the name. I like this guy’s thinking 😉
