And they all fall down: New House of Cards Trailer
Power, Politics, and Intrigue: what better way to spend Valentine’s Day 2014 than season two of Netflix’s break out hit, House of Cards?
This Netflix’s exclusive program has been nominated for 17 awards including Writers Guild of America (Drama Series, New Series, and Episodic Drama), Television Critics Association awards, Satellite Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Golden Globe Awards, and Prime Time Emmy Awards. It’s won four awards including Prime Time Emmy’s Outstanding Directing in a Dramatic Series.
House of Cards is set in the corridors of power in Washington DC. It’s an Americanization of a 1990s British series that stars Kevin Spacey as Francis “Frank” J. Underwood a Democrat Representative of South Carolina and House Majority Whip. After a political betrayal, he and his wife (played by Robin Wright) work on pulling the strings all the way up to the White House to achieve their goals. This is a story of their power plays and the pawns they pull into their machinations, including a young reporter played by Kate Mara. To prepare viewers for the upcoming season, Netflix’s has released a trailer that is both catch up (so SPOILERS) and launching pad for the next 13 episodes.
The series was marked by both the writing, which included comments directly to the audience, and its method of delivery. Netflix released the episodes all at once, letting the audience choose if they’d watch one episode at a time, or to gorge on it, marathon style.
Either way – political geeks can start their countdown clock now to watch the Underwoods continued manipulation of power. It’s amazing what can be done “for the greater good.”
