Haven Season 5 Premier Review: Spoiler Free
Haven fans rejoice, the series returns from its hiatus with its season 5 premier this week. For anyone not familiar with the show, it is about the small town of Haven where strange things happen and people are “troubled”. The troubles in question are supernatural powers that plague the citizens of Haven. In the first season FBI agent Audrey Parker (played by Emily Rose) came to Haven on a case and met local law enforcement Nathan Wuornos (played by Lucas Bryant, you can read Geekpr0n’s interview with him here), together they formed a partnership that would protect the citizens of Haven from themselves and try to find the source of the troubles.
Of course when season 5 premiers this week, fans will already know where the troubles come from and they’ll also know that Audrey has just discovered something bizarre about her past. The premier sets the tone for the season, picking up on the fourth season’s cliff hanger and throwing the main characters into an unforgiving situation. From this first episode, it’s clear that Haven will undergo a major change; the repercussions of season four are already in effect. The main characters are thrown apart, and while Nathan desperately tries to reach Audrey, Duke’s (played by Eric Balfour) troubles have taken a turn for the worst and he may now be a danger to the entire town. When speaking to Bryant, he revealed that this season would see “a lot more heat…and not in the fire sense…some serious death …[and] some huge new characters” and the premier sets this all in motion.
Fans of the show will want to make sure they tune in this Thursday, the premier is not to be missed, and for anyone who had been thinking of jumping on board, the season 5 premier would be a good time to do it. This season looks darker and more intense than any that have come before, and if the premier is any indication, it will be entirely gripping so get ready! Haven airs on Showcase on Thursdays at 9pm.
