Is there a Galaxy Quest TV series in the works?

According to several news sites, Paramount Television is currently in the process of developing a TV remake of the 90s classic, Galaxy Quest.

The movie followed the cast of a successful sci-fi show from the 70s who accidentally encounter an alien race who had mirrored the fictional show’s actions to save their species. While it was an obvious tongue-in-cheek reference to Star Trek, the movie gained a huge cult following and a seal of approval from Captain Pickard himself, Patrick Stewart.

While I still have my doubts having one of my favorite movies turned into a modern TV series, Galaxy Quest’s writers, Robert Gordon and David Howard are currently in negotiations with Paramount for the series. Um, if we can get them back, how about getting the stellar original cast?

Paramount is still seeking a network to pick the series up, so there’s no word on casting, production or release date just yet.
