Friday the 13th: The Game coming in October 2015
Friday the 13th is one of the greatest horror series of all time and features one of the most memorable villains – the hockey mask wearing, machete hurling, councillor hacking JASON VORHEES. To be honest, I’m not the biggest gamer. But when it was announced this week, that for the first time since the 1989 original Nintendo game of the same name, Friday the 13th will be re-launched in a bigger, better and graphically sound way for multiple consoles, I took notice. After all, the original game really did suck, and I mean BAD.
It has been reported that in the new game you can either take the role of Jason and go on a killing spree, or play as his camp counsellor victims and fight off the machete wielding maniac with everything you’ve got. There is not much known right now, but we do know that the game will be released in October of 2015 and will coincide with the release of the upcoming television series and movie.
One thing is for sure – this version will definitely be better than the original game. Jason Vorhees has earned an update, and hopefully this new game will deliver. To be honest, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for it to happen. Jason has been a worldwide phenomenon since he first came out over 30 years ago and even at his worst has entertained movie audiences for decades. And who knows, this game could launch the genre and maybe we will see other classic horror movies being transformed into video games. Why not a “Nightmare on Elm Street” or “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”? Imagine the possibilities. They are endless. So horror gamers, this Halloween you will get a special treat in the form of Jason Vorhees – too bad the guy has got a face only a mother could love 😉
