Frankenweenie Exhibit @ Fan Expo 2012
If you were at the Fan Expo this past weekend, you know I’m in no way exaggerating when I say it was ABSOLUTELY FREAKING INSANE. The convention centre weas elbow-to-elbow almost everywhere, and the vendors were almost impossible to spend more than a few minutes exploring unless you wanted to be shoved along by the masses.
However, one thing in particular that I was happy to see was the huge exhibit dedicated to the latest stop-motion film by Tim Burton, a remake of his classic tale, Frankenweenie. Roped off, with a security person at the entrance and exit (which were at opposite ends, thankfully), there were half a dozen seperate displays, filled with artwork from the film, miscellaneous character sketches, and (I squeed when I saw this) interactive setups of scenes from the film using the actual charcter sculptures and sets.
Guests could look inside Victor’s classroom, home, and laboratory, just as they were set up to film. The laboratory, for example, had several knobs and buttons on the front, that when pressed, activated various lights and small actions within the scene.
I’ll stop talking now and get to the photos. Enjoy!
