The Upcoming Flash/Arrow Spinoff Casts Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter!
According to Deadline, Hawkgirl and Rip Hunter will both appear in the upcoming CW series that is a spinoff of The Flash and Arrow.
Newcomer Ciara Renée has landed the role of Kendra Saunders, one of the lead characters of the upcoming series.
Renée made her debut on Broadway in 2013 and landed her first TV spot on NBC’s Law & Order: SVU. Now she’s ready to take the lead as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl. In the series, Saunders plays a young woman who has learned that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When angered, her warrior persona and her wings (!!) come out, thus becoming Hawkgirl.
In addition to Renée’s casting, Doctor Who‘s Arthur Darvill is set to join the cast as Rip Hunter.
In the series, Hunter is a time traveler who “hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit”.
Renée and Darvill will join Brandon Routh (The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave), Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein) and Caity Lotz in an undisclosed role that might be Sarah Lance, her original character who was killed off in Arrow.
The show will set itself up for a midseason debut next year with Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim working on the series.
