Five Questions with The Akira Project team
I had the opportunity to sit down with the team behind The Akira Project – a fan made trailer of a live-action version of the iconic Akira manga/anime starring Osric Chau (Supernatural) as Kaneda. Part of the team, was in Montreal last weekend for the Montreal ComicCon. I was able to grab them all (except Osric unfortunately who had last minute obligations) and had a quick interview with them after their panel.
Check out the interview above. (I apologize for the bad quality, it was recorded on my iPhone at the end of three very long convention days)
*Keep in mind, The Akira Project is a fan made trailer done by fans themselves that work in the field. They do not own rights to the movie, Warner Brothers does. At this time they are unable to produce a full length film, although they would love to be able to produce a short tv series on the manga. We can only hope Hollywood comes to their senses and either gets people as dedicated as this group (or just hire this group) and/or pays attention to the storyline and meaning behind such a great piece and produces a movie that will not disappoint die hard fans.
Here are some shots from the panel they hosted at Montreal ComicCon:
And here are the Behind The Scenes images from when they shot the trailer:
And yes, that was a Sucker Punch outfit Osric was wearing:
