Exists Trailer Released
Producer and director Eduardo Sanchez solidified his reputation as the king of “in the forest” documentary style horror movies and basically launched the genre when he released The Blair Witch Project in 1999 alongside Dan Myrick. That movie absolutely shocked the world and blew up at the box office proving once again that you can do so much with so little. Well, it seems Sanchez can’t stay out of the woods with his new Bigfoot flick entitled Exists. It premiered this year at SXSW and received great reviews and horror fan reception. I think the movie looks pretty cool, but check out the trailer and you be the judge.
It’s great when horror movies center around “real” occurrences and events and though the existence of Bigfoot has never been proven, it’s still kind of freaky to think there’s some giant 9 foot apeman wandering around in the forest somewhere. I also really like the “found footage” genre and I feel when done correctly makes movies a lot more real, scary and intense.
The cast is full of fresh faced actors, much like the Blair Witch Project was. I feel the reason these sorts of movies try to use “unknown” actors is to make it more real. I mean, if it was Tom Cruise crying and boogering all over himself in Blair Witch Project it would have been laughable. Also, these are low budget flicks that can’t afford big name actors. What is cool however about the cast is that Brian Steele is playing Bigfoot, and this isn’t the first time in his career he’s done so. Remember the show Harry and the Hendersons? Yeah. That was Brian playing Harry in the series. He has also appeared as many different characters that usually involve a lot of makeup in movies like Howard the Duck, Men In Black 2, Underworld, Hellboy, Resident Evil, Doom, Terminator Salvation and Predators just to name a few.
Slated for an October 24 release, this movie will “exist” in theaters just in time for Halloween and is sure to be an awesome addition to your ghastly celebrations 🙂
