Enter The Latest Creation From IDW Games – Awesome Kingdom: Tower Of Hateskull
Kevin Wilson, creator of epic games like Descent, Arkham Horror, and X-Files has yet another notch to add to his game-master’s belt. Today, IDW Games just announced that Wilson will be releasing his latest concept into the tabletop world: Awesome Kingdom: Tower of Hateskull in the summer of 2015.
This is IDW Games’ first foray into the world of fantasy games and it has a real sense of humour to boot. Given that the characters found in this over-the-top dungeon adventure game boast comedic titles like Prestidigimancer, Ragebarian or Paladude, Awesome Kingdom promises to be a two to four player, fast and light game in which players compete for the status of being the most awesome hero … EVER.
Wilson recounts that Awesome Kingdom is inspired by his youngest experiences with role playing games.
“It’s the sort of thing I dreamed up while eating sugar-frosted cereal and watching Saturday-morning cartoons in the 80’s. I tried to channel that sense of unrestrained fun and Tower of Hateskull is the result.”
Each character is represented by one of eight obvious and iconic arch-types from adventure gaming. The game is divided into days in which each player enters a dungeon and competes over those three days for being the most successful adventurer. Each character is differentiated by a unique ability and over the course of play, has to somehow overcome mythical monsters, disarm or defuse cunning traps and out-perform their opponents. If successful, he or she will emerge from the dungeon triumphant and with the most amount of treasure and trophies!
