From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series
Robert Rodriguez has created some quality characters and material for the big screen over the years, and now one of his most famous creations is coming to the small screen. His classic Texas based horror film “From Dusk Till Dawn” has been a fan favorite for eighteen years, and is now returning as a series on Rodriguez’s “El Rey” network as well as on Netflix.
Rodriguez wants to go further in depth into the back story of the Gecko brothers (originally played by Quentin Tarantino and George Clooney), as well as an in depth explanation into the history of the famous “Titty Twister” bar. The characters will all be based on ones from the original movie, as well as some from it’s sequels. Rodriguez will finally get a ten hour opportunity to fill in some blanks, a task he’s been thinking about ever since the original movie was done.
The cast features some well known actors including Robert Patrick (of Terminator 2, Gangster Squad), Don Johnson ( of Miami Vice, Machete, Django Unchained), Jake Busey (The Frighteners, Tomcats, Son of Gary Busey), and Wilmer Valderama (of That 70’s Show).
As well, expect a huge amount of gore and violence as his network, along with Netflix, doesn’t have to follow the same guidelines as most other shows and movies. The original movie was pretty gory, so topping that won’t be easy but I’m sure they will.
As of late, horror has become quite a popular television topic with shows like Walking Dead, True Blood and American Horror Story and From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is definitely trying to cash in on the craze. And why not? I personally think it’s kind of funny how the world has changed so much. As a kid, I got made fun of for liking things like this, and now it’s a mainstream deal. In any case, I look forward to the show.
The show airs Tuesday nights at 8 on the El Rey Network and is available on Netflix.
