Dork The Halls: 10 Weird & Geeky Christmas Carols Part I

‘Tis the season to be jolly! With songs about jingling bells, frosty snowmen, Santa and of course, spliffs, Star Wars and military satellites it’s about time GEEKPR0N got into the holiday spirit. So check out these unlikely Christmas carols while you pour yourself another glass of holiday cheer and make sure to let us know what songs get YOU feeling merry and bright.

10. Snoop Dogg & Nate Dogg – Santa Claus Goes Straight to the Ghetto

This festive track has Snoop asking for both Nintendo AND Sega Genesis right off the bat which is a good start, but it gets even better once we start smoking our way through the days of Christmas while sippin’ on eggnog n’ juice. Through lines of wanting a 6-4 Chevrolet and champagne, we learn that while Santa may still deliver presents to the “ghetto”,  he actually looks an awful lot like a woman named ‘Mom’.

9. Eban Schletter’s Cosmic Christmas – We Three Kings

“What will become of Christmas?” is an interesting question when posed with a Twilight Zone worthy, sci-fi concept album by nerdy film/TV composer, Eban Schletter. The story orbits around a drifting military satellite which encounters a mysterious series of signals forcing the on-board computer into an existential crisis. Sounds of a theramin, music boxes and piano create this trippy, sonic feast for the ears which is WAY better than that dub step business if you ask me.

8. Swish and Flick – I’ve Been A Very Naughty Girl This Year

In case you didn’t know, Swish and Flick are a wizard rock duo who make Harry Potter themed songs for adults. In this holiday tune, we hear from a Slytherin girl who will NOT be getting any gifts this year, listen to find out why.

7. Ok Go – Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas

There isn’t anything particularly weird about this indie rock version of the old holiday standard, but it’s awesome and nerdy with little kid instruments and that’s good enough for GEEKPR0N.

6. Star Wars Christmas – What Can You Get a Wookie For Christmas (When He Already Owns a Comb)?

It wouldn’t be Christmas without the long forgotten 1980 release of ‘Christmas The Stars: STAR WARS Christmas Album.’ It was a toss up between including “R2D2 We Wish You A Merry Christmas” which features an 18 year old Jon Bon Jovi or this classic number which gets down to the nitty gritty of what to get for the Wookiee in your life who has everything.
