Disney Confirms Star Wars Spin-Off Films

If you didn’t think adding three new sequels to the Star Wars saga was enough to satisfy your galactic needs, here’s some news that may just strike your fancy.

Disney unveiled plans earlier this week to make a number of spin-off films in addition to the post-Return of the Jedi trilogy.

More Star Wars! More Star Wars!

“There has been speculation about some stand-alone films that have been in development, and I can confirm to you today that in fact we are working on a few stand-alone films,” stated Bob Iger, the Walt Disney Company chairman and CEO.

Iger added that “Empire Strikes Back” writer Lawrence Kasdan and “X-Men: First Class” scribe Simon Kinberg, both of whom will be working alongside J.J. Abrams for the trilogy, are contributing to the stand-alone Star Wars movies, as well.

While Disney has yet to release further detail on these films, several sources close to the individual projects have indicated that two films will in fact revolve around our two beloved scoundrels, Boba Fett and Han Solo.

Oh, you guys.

The Han Solo story would take place in the time period between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, while the Boba Fett film would take place during the timeline of the original trilogy. The return of Han Solo would allow Harrison Ford to only return as a framing device, meaning there will have to be a new face to portray our favorite scruffy-looking nerfherder.

Or they could pull a Tron: Legacy move.

In addition to bringing back two fan-favorite characters as the leads of their own films, these projects would also allow Darth Vader to return as a villain. *que the Imperial March score*

YESSSSSSS!!!

I still have yet to be able to wrap my brain around all of this new Star Wars news. While the unsettling thought of overwhelming the world with too much Star Wars rests in the back of my mind, I can’t help but overthrow that thought with anticipation and excitement of the new things to come.

In other words,

ALLLL THE STAR WARS!!!
