David Tennant joins the cast of A.K.A. Jessica Jones
Hold on to your seats fans, because your worlds are about to collide! David Tennant, also known as the tenth incarnation of Doctor Who, will be ditching his trench coat and converse to join the cast of the Marvel Studios and Netflix coproduction A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
Tennant is joining Krysten Ritter who will play the title superhero turned private investigator and Mike Colter who will play Luke Cage and eventually star in his own Netflix series. Tennant will play the villain Zebediah Killgrave, who is intimately tied to the history of Jessica Jones.
In case you’re unfamiliar with Killgrave’s particular brand of evil, here’s a quick run-down of who he is; Killgrave is also known as Purple Man, a former spy who met with an ill-fated chemical accident that tinted his skin and gave him his unfortunate alias. He is known to have used his powers to brainwash and torment Jessica Jones when she was the hero Jewel. Presumably, A.K.A. Jessica Jones will tell this story through flashbacks as Jones re-encounters her nemesis. We know that the show will feature Jones as she attempts to rebuild her life after she gets out of the hero game. Tennant will have to take a dark turn to portray Killgrave and the sadistic way he treats Jones, but while he rarely plays the villain, he is no stranger to characters with dark or troubled pasts.
