Commodore-64 Bass Keytar
Yeah that’s right – a bass guitar slash Commodore-64 slash keytar hybrid of geekery – the perfect instrument to make those 8 bit dog barking sounds!
Jeri Ellsworth made this impressive bass guitar/keytar for the Bay Area Maker Faire by combining it with an original C-64, even using the C-64’s own built-in sound chip. To be more specific, she commented via Twitter saying it uses the SID chip and is based on an FPGA – a re-implementation of the Commodore-64 computer using reconfigurable logic chips. Yeah, what she said.
With that kind of innovative, modern technology, I’d expect no less than hearing Bruce Lee or Ghosts N Goblins sounds on it… better yet, I better hear her play the Jumpman Game Over song.
