Cannibal! The Musical! The Stage production!
Big news for fans of Trey Parker, fans of Evil Dead the musical, and the venn diagram in which they intersect- the director of EDTM is back with his next project- Cannibal! The Musical!
The cult hit, created by Parker and released by Troma films, follows the trial of Alferd Packer, the first person convicted of cannibalism in the US. Cannibal! The Musical! is well-crafted, with the edgy, dark humour Parker is known for.
With an incredibly talented and funny cast, featuring But I’m Chris Jericho‘s Mark Andrata, Evil Dead: The Musical‘s Nug Nahrgang, and Evil Dead The Musical‘s Trevor Martin, who also co-wrote the stage adaptation of Cannibal, and directed by Evil Dead the Musical‘s Christopher Bond (who also co-wrote the Cannibal adaptation), this is one show fans of gore, comedy, and show tunes are not going to want to miss!
Bond has a history of making stage productions that are immersive and interact with the audience- like the infamous Splatter Zone in Evil Dead the Musical, where the front two rows get covered in blood- and this production is no exception- if you go to the website, http://www.cannibalonstage.com, there’s a mini game you can play that will lead you to advance ticket sales.
The production will be making its official debut in 2015 at the Panasonic theatre in Toronto. Definitely buy tickets, but don’t expect a splatter zone this time around.
“It’s been done”, says cast member Nahrgang. “Besides, there’s a horse in this play. Do you really want a splatter zone?”
