Bruce Timm Justice League Cartoon is Coming!
If, like me, you grew up watching Batman lurk the streets of Gotham every Saturday morning in Bruce Timm’s gritty, noir, and now infamous cartoon; then I have amazing news for you! Bruce Timm is bringing his unique aesthetic back to the DC Universe and working with Machinima to produce a new animated short series called Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles. The series will air online and will be the first product of Warner Bros. and Machinima since WB invested in the YouTube network earlier this year.
The entire idea is that the limited series will set the tone, showing a darker version of the Justice League heroes than fans are familiar with, and it will lead into Timm’s animated film Justice League: Gods and Monsters. Machinima will be the home of Chronicles and fans will get to meet alternate versions of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. The series will hit the net as early as spring 2015 and will lead into the Warner Home Entertainment movie scheduled to release later in the year. Comicbook.com quotes Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Digital Series President, Sam Register as saying:
“We couldn’t be happier to be announcing our first new digital series today, and we’re even more excited that it’s a collaboration with such accomplished storytellers as Bruce Timm and Alan Burnett, who have been responsible for some of the most innovative and creative DC Universe projects…Justice League Gods and Monsters Chronicles is an exciting opportunity to bring alternative versions of DC Comics’ iconic Justice League characters to Machinima, and we look forward to bringing this new animated short form series to life with our partners across Warner Bros.”
