Bōsōzoku Sailor Scouts will make you want to start your own bad girl revolution

From Selina Kyle to Wanda Woodward, we love bad girls. That’s why Babs Tarr‘s* bōsōzoku portrait of the Sailor Scouts is kinda perfect. Though we love do-gooders and whatever strange magical abilities they may have, sometimes we wish they would go bad, even if just for one day.

Bōsōzoku was–and still is!–a Japanese youth subculture of motorcyclists living on thrills and noise, not giving a $%#& about Japanese norms. The Sailor Senshi’s tattoos and defiant bōsōzoku-straddling suggest they are all about facing social misdeeds on the streets with brazen femininity and toughness.

In the name of bōsōzoku, the Sailor Scouts will punish you!

On another note, it’s interesting and surprising to see the Scouts portrayed as bad-ass because they often come off as silly bumbling teens in the TV series. Take the leader of the pack. A huge sweat-drop is tattooed to Sailor Moon’s forehead out of her unwavering resolution to snack and nap instead of study.

Still, in the TV series, you can see the chutzpah behind these defenders of good. They routinely punish villains for taking advantage of girls their age. Teen girl wishes–such as winning a wedding dress contest or getting a nice haircut–are proudly defended in combat by the Scouts. Seriously, the Scouts’s secret alternate moniker has gotta be Social Justice League.

*Here’s a bit more about the artist: bad girls are to Babs Tarr what flowers were to Georgia O’Keefe. Babs Tarr has brought us many rotten lady portraits, such as Harley and Ivy and the babliest babe that ever babed. Also, in her tumblr self-portrait, she has perfected the art of a good scowl, which is awesome.
