Batman: The Killing Joke is Finally Turning Into a Film!
During Bruce Timm’s panel for his latest animated flick, Justice League: Gods and Monsters, Timm revealed that DC Universe Original Movies in working on not one but three titles to be released in 2016, including an animated adaptation of the classic Batman: The Killing Joke.
Written by Alan Moore, the graphic novel gives us an origin story for the Joker and the fateful moment that led Batgirl’s Barbara Gordon to become paralyzed. While popular, the story is still met with controversy — in most part for it’s treatment of Barbara Gordon. It was even denounced by Alan Moore in recent years. Still, the graphic novel is a fan favourite for many and the most requested to become adapted into an animated film.
In addition to Batman: The Killing Joke, DC also announced two other projects in development for 2016: Batman: Bad Blood will be an original Batman story featuring the introduction of Batwoman to the DC animated films series. Justice League vs. Titans will be another original story and the first animated film from DC to feature the Teen Titans.
