Batman: Arkham Knight Coming This Year

Fans of the Batman: Arkham series have a new game to look forward to. Arkham Knight will be joining Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Origins later this year, coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Picking up after City, Arkham Knight will see the long-awaited return of The Scarecrow, as well as Penguin, Two-Face, and Harley Quinn. From the looks of the trailer, it appears that Scarecrow may be the primary antagonist of this installment, which is being labeled the “explosive finale” to the hit series.

Now, the Scarecrow segments were certainly highlights of Arkham Asylum, so it will be interesting to see the villain take center stage.

Gamestop has listed Arkham Knight‘s release date as October 14, 2014, less than a year since the release of Origins. When we reviewed Origins last year, we liked it overall, praising its storyline in particular, but felt it didn’t quite do enough to distinguish its gameplay from its predecessors (and it should be mentioned that many other players experienced game-breaking bugs that have yet to be patched). From the looks of things, Arkham Knight is already offering a few gameplay shakeups, such as the ability to drive around Gotham in the Batmobile. Combined with the fact that Knights is being developed by Rocksteady (who developed the original two titles), it seems very likely that Arkham Knight will surpass Origins and be the “return to form” that many are hoping for.
