Archie is Coming to TV!
Thanks to Greg Berlanti, Archie and the Riverdale gang will be coming to a TV near you on the CW Network.
While the rumours have been swirling for about a year now — it’s finally confirmed that CW will be producing this hour-long series based on the popular Archie comic book series. According to GeekTyrant, this new series be darker than what we’re used to.
Writing the pilot is Robert Aguirre-Sacasa — who’s written episodes for Glee, the Carrie reboot and the comic series Afterlife with Archie — which introduces Archie and friends to a zombie apocalypse.
The series will be called Riverdale was originally being shopped around over at Fox but we’re more than happy that it’s being produced by the CW. They’re known for shows like Supernatural, Arrow, The Flash and the upcoming DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know that those shows are pretty popular.
The upcoming series will most likely introduce the regulars: Archie Andrews, Veronica Lodge, Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones and Reggie Mantle — but here’s hoping that we’ll be able to see Sabrina Spellman and even Josie and the Pussycats. Although, I hardly doubt they’ll be as entertaining as their live-action film.
Added cool bonus if they bring the original Sabrina, The Teenage Witch Melissa Joan Hart back to the series — even if it’s one of Sabrina’s aunts. What a time to be alive!
