More Agents! – ABC announces fall TV
It’s May – and that means it’s time for the networks to renew or cancel shows from the current season. Last night ABC announced who was staying and who was going.
Sad news, the quirky story of the always dying never dead Medical Examiner in New York City, Forever, did not have the longevity of its protagonist. Yup it’s cancelled after only one season. At least they were able to wrap up a number of the main mysteries by the season’s finale.
Great news however is that ABC has renewed the following fan favourites: Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD and Marvel’s Agent Carter. Both shows have proven that ‘it’s all connected’ cross-over favourite marketing approach of comics can be successfully used in television and movie franchises too.
Once Upon a Time continues its reweaving of fairy tales aka Disney’s properties for another season, and Nathan Fillion will continue to solve crimes and write novels in Castle.
Musical theatre geeks will be happy to hear that Galavant has been picked up, while mystery folk might be pleased about the renewal of How to Get Away with Murder (but not law students, as that show reflects no law school ever). Another show with a black female lead, Scandal, has been renewed along with the comedy Fresh off the Boat.
On a worrisome note, there will be a reboot of The Muppets, which could be awesome, but only if it’s done right.
GEEKPR0N will keep its eyes and ears open for news as other networks make up their minds about the coming season. Which shows are you pulling for? And which are you hoping are on the chopping block?
