A.P.E. Makes The Kind Of Videos Nightmares Are Made Of
Toronto’s A Primitive Evolution are artists musically and visually, and the debut single from their album ‘The Prize’ released this past September is a perfect example of their skills. Musically, the single ‘Lord of Reason’ is a melodic tune that’s catchy and builds intensity in all the right places. Visually, the production is stunning, thanks to both director Peter J Arvidsson and director of photography Brendan Coutts. Credit must also be given to the brilliant minds of Playdead artists Bean (also playing the character of the witch) and Stu Dead, also A.P.E’s drummer. ‘Lord of Reason’ is truly a beautiful rendition of Playdead’s art brought to life.
Lurking within the video’s beauty, however is a little bit of every nightmare you’ve probably ever had including missing children, zombies, creepy dolls and even a couple of furries. Like I said, everything. Don’t let that stop you, though, I can’t remember the last time a music video was this engrossing.
A.P.E. are currently playing shows in support of ‘The Prize’ which can be picked up on iTunes or through www.APrimitiveEvolution.com.
