Music: Drink! Dance! Destroy!
This has been the summer for Toronto rock n’ roll outfit, Teenage X. With
the release of their debut album, a series of packed shows and nothing but
open doors ahead of them, this is a band who’s kicking and screaming will
not go unanswered. Hailed as the soundtrack of the summer, Drink! Dance!
Destroy! is twenty minutes of mayhem that cover a wide range of musical
styles from 80’s sounding power pop ballads to out of control, breakneck
speed drinking anthems.
Vocalist, Sarah Page and her crew give Blondie a run for their money with tracks like ‘Losin’ It’ and ‘Boom’ which could have been the theme song to the prom I never went to. Things get a bit cheekier with Chelsea Horror Hotel and spiral into outright madness with ‘Fast Machine’, ‘Say What You Want’ and the title track itself, ‘Drink! Dance! Destroy!’. In pure rock n’ roll style, Teenage X didn’t fail to leave listeners with a sing along that will surely get stuck in your head, and closing the album off with ‘Wasted’ makes sure that you’ll be singing long after your iPod’s battery dies.
You can buy the whole album, but Teenage X have also been so kind as to
release a song a week for their fans at http://www.soundcloud.com/teenage-x. You
can also catch Teenage X with The Unbelievers, The Nasties and legendary
CJ Ramone on October 8th at The Bovine Sex Club.
