Severus Snape and the Marauders
Severus Snape and the Marauders is what all Potterheads need to fill in void left by the final Harry Potter books and films.
The fan made film was produced by the Broad Strokes Production company. It was funded with the help of Kickstarter. You can check out their site to get behind the scenes info and character bios right here.
The film looks at the life of James Potter, Sirius Black, Petter Pettigrew, Remus Lupin, Lilly Evans, and Severus Snape right after graduation. It shows the young Marauders gang celebrating graduation from Hogwarts. Amidst all the drinking and memories, a old foil comes into the pub to try and finish some old business. It picks up the emotions of of Harry Potter fans where the books and films left off.
The casting, the acting, and the special effects bring us back for 25 minutes into Hogwarts, and it is something that you will feel. Knowing what has all happened, being able to see the foundations of the Death Eaters take place, you want to stop it and enjoy it all at the same time.
It says something special about source material that can inspire such amazing content. It is the story we needed to see. It always comes with that slight bit of tragedy that has followed Snape all his life.
The casting is spot on, you don’t need name cards or graphics to tell you who’s who. You can spot Sirius Black right away, and there’s something comforting about seeing that Gary Oldman swagger. If JK Rowling ever decides to do a Severus Snape prequel story, while he spends time with the Death Eaters, please cast Mick Ignis. He captures Alan Rickman’s role, and then gives his own spin to it. You get caught feeling sad about Rickman and Snape all at the same time.
Do we still have all the same emotions for Snape after all this time?
Always.
