After two movies and a lot of speculation, it looks like The Muppet Show is coming back to television, and it looks like ABC will be the potential home to the Muppets. Nothing has been written in stone, and we saw how tough it was to get Piggy on board in The Muppet Movie.
Bill Prady, a producer for The Big Bang Theory and The Jim Henson Hour, dropped a hint that our loveable ping pong eyed amphibian would make a small screen return.
In all seriousness, there’s something about The Muppet Show that brings people together. There’s something about the Muppets that everyone loves. What is it about orange fur and flailing green felt arms that makes us smile?
We can hope that Disney throws some serious dollars behind it. We can hope that there can be a new generation of kids to grow up with the Muppets, and we can hope that we’ll all be singing along to The Muppet Show theme.
Until then, let’s keep our collective fingers crossed and get our arms in shape for the inevitable flailing that is sure to follow.
