DC refuses Superman “S” Shield on a child’s memorial statue

DC is kicking a family while it’s down.  All Jeffrey Baldwin wanted to be when he grew up was Superman, but when his grandparents starved him to death, that dream died.

Todd Boyce who heard about this tragedy started an online campaign to raise money to erect a monument in Jeffery’s memory. The monument would be a statue of Jeffrey in a flying pose, cause that’s what he did.  Jeffery would be in his Superman costume pretending to fly.

But DC has put a stop to that saying that the Superman “S” Shield cannot be used for this particular project. DC’s statement mentioned that they didn’t want the Superman logo associated with child abuse.

Boyce expressed his disappointment, and said that most likely the statue will have the “S” changed to a “J”.

I personally think, that by changing the classic “S” to a “J” the statue will lose something somehow. It won’t have the same impact as it should. I really have lost faith with DC Comics.

The whole thing just sucks big time, and something that started off so pure has been tainted by “brand preservation”.
